A história da vinda dos Coreanos começou oficialmente dia 23 de fevereiro de 1963, quando eles desembarcaram no Porto de Santos e se instalaram em diversos pontos de São Paulo. Com o passar dos anos, eles foram definindo quais lugares seriam melhores para suas convivências, e Santa Cecília, em São Paulo, foi um dos lugares definidos por eles como moradia. Segundo uma pesquisa realizada pela Polícia Federal, hoje, existem em média 50 mil imigrantes coreanos que residem no Brasil legalmente. A preferência de 96% desses imigrantes, é São Paulo, e os outros estão espalhados pelo nosso Brasil. Como sugestão de entretenimento para esses imigrantes que pelejam para aprender nosso idioma, que não é fácil, no distrito de Santa Cecília, há um Centro Cultural Coreano que conta com uma agenda repleta de variedades. Mas proposta do Centro, que foi fundado em 2013, é apoiar o desenvolvimento de intercâmbio cultural entre a Coreia e o Brasil, ou seja, inserir também que brasileiros façam parte dessa linda cultura. Além de amplas salas para seminários, o lugar ainda dispõe de salas para Taekwondo, Biblioteca para pesquisas sobre a cultura coreana, cozinha para eventos gastronômicos e um teatro.
